A moment of madness -Abdoulaye Doucouré striking Harry Kane in face during Tottenham vs Everton

Abdoulaye Doucoure, the Everton midfielder, was shown a straight red card during their match against Tottenham, following a sudden act of irrationality.

In response to a challenge from Harry Kane, the 30-year-old player reacted negatively and ended up hitting the Englishman in the face.

Despite Sean Dyche’s objections, the referee had no hesitation in issuing the red card, and the VAR upheld the decision.

It’s hard to comprehend what was going through Doucoure’s mind at that moment.

Check out the red card below:

Harry Kane scores penalty

Adding to Doucoure’s misfortune, just moments after the incident, Tottenham was awarded a penalty when Michael Keane fouled Cristian Romero in the box.

Kane seized the opportunity and successfully converted the penalty kick, securing his 22nd league goal of the season.

Speaking on Sky Sports, former player Don Goodman said:“It’s a tough one to take if you’re Sean Dyche and Everton, but it all goes back to that red card.

“That’s why they’re under siege, that’s why Spurs are putting pressure on, that’s why Michael Keane makes a mistake. But Spurs don’t care.”

Did Kane go down too easily?

Although most people considered Doucoure’s red card as a clear-cut decision, some individuals held the belief that Kane may have exaggerated the contact. Sean Dyche, in particular, was furious with England’s captain and insinuated to the referee that Kane was feigning injury.

Even though Kane received a yellow card for his involvement, Doucoure was still required to face the consequences of his actions in accordance with the rules of the game.

Keane scores last minute equaliser

Despite conceding a goal, Everton managed to equalize in the latter stages of the game, courtesy of an exceptional goal from defender Michael Keane.

The centre-back unleashed a stunning shot from outside the penalty box, securing a valuable point for the Toffees and diminishing Tottenham’s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League.

Interestingly, Keane’s goal arrived shortly after Lucas Moura was shown a red card for a dangerous tackle on the same player.
