Arsenal news live: Gunners want Sanson & Woodman, Atletico want Lacazette, Neto & Buendia latest

Arsenal news and gossip is coming in thick and fast and Sportarena is on hand to bring you all the very latest from Emirates stadium.

Arsenal eyeing a move for  Morgan Sanson

Arsenal have reportedly positioned themselves in bid to Marseille star Morgan Samson, who scored five goals in 10 Ligue 1 appearances this season.

The Gunners are remains heavily linked with a number of attacking midfielders across Europe as they look to solve their lack of creativity.

And according to The French outlet Telefoot via Daily Star claim Morgan Sanson is in talks with an unnamed English club concerning a January move.

Sanson, 26, has been linked with Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham in past transfer windows, but Mikel Arteta’s side believed leading the race to signing the playmaker.

Freddie Woodman has reportedly been shortlisted by Arsenal

Arsenal are keen to sign a new back-up goalkeeper and have shortlisted Newcastle United star Freddie Woodman, according to

Alex Runarsson has been struggling since joining from Dijon last summer, while Woodman, 23, won the Golden Glove as England won the Under-20 World Cup in 2017.

He has been on five loan spells away from St James’ Park and has impressed over the last season-and-a-half with championship side Swansea.

Woodman has kept 13 clean sheets in 22 Championship appearances this season, while the report adds his father is the Under-23s Head of Goalkeeping at Emirates stadium.

Arsenal target Neto will not be allowed to leave Barcelona this months

Barcelona and Brazilian goalkeeper Neto will not be able to leave the club this month despite interest from Arsenal, Ronald Koeman has insisted.

The Gunners are hoping to provide competition for first-choice Bernd Leno after Alex Runarsson’s struggles following his arrival from Dijon – and are believed to have made Neto a potential target.

But club boss Ronald Koeman appears to have brought an end to the speculation already after stressing the out-of-favour stopper remains in his plans.

‘If we talk about players, we talk about youngsters,’ said Koeman.

‘I’ve said several times for some players it could be good for them to have more minutes to improve as players.

‘Neto is a different case, it’s true his agent asked the club to move on and we said no because he’s important for us and we want to have all positions covered.’

Atletico Madrid ready to renew their interest in Alexandre Lacazette

Atletico Madrid are reportedly preparing to revisit their pursuit of Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette, who scored four goals in their last five games.

The Spanish capital club were heavily linked with the Frenchman last summer, but no move was finalised as the club signed Luis Suarez from Barcelona instead.

However, according to AS, Atletico are ready to renew their interest in Lacazette and take advantage of his ‘strained’ relationship with Gunners head coach Mikel Arteta.

Lacazette is reportedly not part of Mikel Arteta’s long-term plans at the Emirates Stadium and with his contract running out next year, clubs – including Atletico’s rivals Real Madrid – are beginning to monitor the Frenchman.

With Arsenal beginning their squad clear-out, of which Mesut Ozil and Sokratis are next to go, Lacazette could be another departure and Celtic frontman Odsonne Edouard has been via as a possible replacement.

The north London club also waved goodbye to left-back Sead Kolasinac this month, who joined Schalke on loan for the rest of the season.

Arsenal and Atletico have a very recent history in the transfer market following Lucas Torreira’s loan move to Spain and Arsenal’s late swoop for Thomas Partey in the summer transfer window.

Emi Buendia decision delayed

Arsenal will reportedly delay the decision to sign Norwich City playmaker Emiliano Buendia until later in the window as they continue to assess all of their options.

The Gunners are interested in Buendia, as sportarena previously reported, and they view him as a potential solution to their lack of creativity in central midfield.

However, as Fabrizio Romano told AFTV, any decision on the Norwich City attacking midfielder, who scored seven goals and contributed six assist across all competitions so far this season will wait until later this month.

‘He’s one of the options,’Romano said. There has been contact with his agents in the last weeks, Arsenal making some enquiry with many agents as they look for a quality midfielder.

‘It’s difficult in this market to go for example to Lyon and spend €60m or €50m to sign Aouar. It’s so difficult to do this kind of move. They were talking with the agent of Emi Buendia. They are interested in Buendia but it’s not sure he will be the perfect player. They will decide after selling players, the best option they have, they will go for it.

‘For sure Buendia is part of the list. He’s a skilful player, a quality midfielder, he’s perfect for what they’re looking for but I’m not sure yet that they will go for him. It’s normal for a top club like Arsenal to go to many agents and to be ready, particularly when talking about a quick market like January, you have 10 days or 15 days to decide about your targets.

‘They’re talking with many agents for many opportunities and Buendia is one of the chances. But also Norwich want to keep the player so it won’t be so easy. It’s absolutely normal to wait a bit in this situation.’
