Chelsea Handed major transfer boost to sign French defender
Chelsea have been handed an upper hand in the bid to sign Jules Kounde in the summer transfer window.
The Sevilla centre-back, who is also the subject of interest from Arsenal and Manchester United however prioritizes a switch to Chelsea.
The Frenchman has quickly established himself as one of the best centre-backs in Europe, enjoying an immediate rise to limelight and stature since joining Sevilla from Bordeaux in the summer of 2019.
His progress has not only enabled Kounde to become a mainstay at the back for Sevilla but also break into a jam-packed French national side.
Jules have played 89 games for La Liga giants, chipping in with 6 goals and 2 assists.
The 22-year-old centre-back’s development over the last couple of years has piqued the interest of some of the biggest teams in the world, including PL bigwigs like Arsenal, Man United and Chelsea.
As for Chelsea, with Thiago Silva in the twilight of his career and Cesar Azpilicueta also on the wrong side of 30, it is prudent to attempt to sign a player like the French centre-back, who could set them up for a decade, in theory.
Apart from Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United, Manchester City are also interested in Jules.
