Scotland traveled to Yerevan, Armenia for their Nations League game against the Armenians on June 14. This was their 4th game in the past two weeks.

Steve Clarke’s side celebrated a 2-0 victory over Armenia when they hosted Joaquín Caparrós’s side on June 8th. While in an away game, the Scotland national team scored 4 goals after being down 1-0 just 6 minutes into the game.

It was after Che Adams’ assist that Stuart Armstrong equalized for their side and at the end of the first-half, after John McGinn’s assist, Armstrong put Scotland ahead and therefore formed a double.

In the second half, McGinn scored Scotland’s 3rd goal, while minutes later, Adams scored the 4th.

The game ended in Scotland’s 4-1 win as Armenia finished it with 9 men.

Following the game, John McGinn spoke to VBETNews and shared a few thoughts on the game and Scotland’s Nations League campaign so far.

The Aston Villa star said that he is glad his side celebrated a victory and also revealed that Scotland’s aim in the tournament is to finish first in their group.

“Our aim is to finish top of the group. We have got three tough games in September. Looking forward to it,” said McGinn.

Scotland will face Ukraine two times and Ireland in a span of a week in September.

As the summer transfer window is already open, ahead of the new season, Aston Villa have already made a few singings one of which was Philippe Coutinho, whose deal was made permanent after a successful loan spell.

McGinn shared a few thoughts on Coutinho and also overall Villa’s transfer window.

“Yes. Very exciting. He is a top, top player. But not only Coutinho, we have also signed Boubacar Kamara and Diego Carlos. We need to make those players feel good. And hope they adopt to the team,” said the midfielder.

Aston Villa will soon begin their pre-season in preparation ahead of the new season. The 27-year-old says that Aston Villa need to try and target European football during the upcoming campaign.

“We need to try and target European football. The club invested a lot of money. So we need to try to achieve Europe and we’ll see how it goes,” concluded McGinn.
