Finnish businessman makes damning claims about Glazers as he withdraws from ‘farcical’ Manchester United bidding process

Zilliacus has slammed the Glazers as he revealed he’s pulled out of the race to buy United

Finnish businessman Zilliacus, along with favourites Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Qatari Sheikh Jassim Bin Al Thani, are all yet to match the Glazers’ valuation of £6billion.

And Zilliacus has now taken to social media to state he is out of the running to buy United, as he declared that the process has turned into a ‘farce’.

The 69-year-old had vowed to stump up £3bn of his own money, while asking fans to cough up £1.5bn.

But he has now taken his offer off the table, as he hit out at the American billionaires in two damning Twitter posts.

He said: “I have declined participation in a third bidding round for United.

“The bidding is turning into a farce, with the Glazers giving no respect to the club.

“The delays will make it very difficult for any new owner to build a winning team for next season.”

Zilliacus added: “Jim Ratcliffe, Sheikh Jassim and myself all were ready to negotiate a deal to buy United.

“Instead the Glazers chose to start a new round.

“I will not participate in a farce set up to maximize the profit for the sellers at the expense of Manchester United.”

The Glazers announced in November that they were exploring ‘strategic alternatives’ which could include a full sale of United.

The Americans bought the Premier League giants for £790million in 2005.
