Sadio Mane took less than 30 minutes to find his scoring form for Bayern Munich in their first game of the Bundesliga season.
The German champions began the defence of their crown in dominant fashion on Friday night as they thrashed Eintracht Frankfurt 6-1.
The hosts went into the match with optimism, although this was soon crushed out of them.
Frankfurt won the Europa League last season by defeating Rangers in the final and face Real Madrid next Wednesday in the UEFA Super Cup.
There seemed to be a feel-good factor around the club, though they finished 11th last season domestically.
Meanwhile Bayern have lost Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona, who netted 60 goals last campaign.
While very few expect new signing Mane, who joined from Liverpool, to reach such a tally, he has managed to get off to an impressive start.
Prior to the game, Frankfurt president Peter Fischer joked about Bayern’s new arrival as he said in an interview with broadcasters RTL and n-tv: “Who the f*** is Mane?”
Bayern began quickly, going 1-0 up through Joshua Kimmich inside five minutes.
Benjamin Pavard doubled the lead with just ten minutes on the clock.
Then, as the match approached the half-hour mark, Mane struck.
Serge Gnabry was played in down the left wing with the former Liverpool man up alongside him in the middle.
As he entered the penalty area, Gnabry deftly lifted the ball over the Frankfurt defender between them so that Mane could head home.
At half-time, Bayern were 5-0 up as Jamal Musiala and Gnabry added to their tally.
In the second half, Randal Kolo Muani got one back for the hosts, but Musiala scored again and the match ended 6-1.
And afterwards, Mane joined his new supporters in the stands
Posting on Instagram, he wrote: ‘Well done boys’ alongside images of hims scoring and then celebrating with the Bayern faithful, with former Liverpool teammates Jordan Henderson and Andy Robertson among those to like the post.
Earlier in the week captain Henderson told talkSPORT how much the forward will be missed.
“I think any team in the world would miss Sadio. For me, he’s one of the best players in the world and one of the best characters around the dressing room and around the place.
“He’s a great lad, always smiling and joking around and just really good to have around. Setting standards as well.
“Big miss for us, but that’s football. Life goes on. I wish him all the best and hopefully he does well at Bayern.
“We’ve brought a few new lads to this group now and hopefully we can adapt and change now Sadio is gone. Life goes on.”
