Jamie Carragher reacts to Harry Kane’s actions after Abdoulaye Doucoure red card

Jamie Carragher has voiced his criticism of Harry Kane, the Tottenham star, for his behavior following an altercation with Abdoulaye Doucoure of Everton.

The match at Goodison Park ended in a 1-1 draw, with Michael Keane scoring a stunning goal in the 90th minute, and it was far from uneventful.

The incident occurred when the game was tied at 0-0, as Doucoure reacted negatively to Kane’s challenge on Demarai Gray, raising his hand to Kane’s face, prompting the referee David Coote to send him off with a straight red card.

Although there was little objection to Doucoure’s red card, numerous people have claimed that Harry Kane made a meal of the incident and overreacted.

The Tottenham striker fell to the ground too quickly, according to critics.

Some, including Everton manager Sean Dyche, were outraged by the ruling, and their indignation was compounded when Kane swiftly bounced back and scored a goal just moments later.

Carragher’s reaction to Kane’s behaviour

Following the incident, Harry Kane was seen receiving medical attention after Abdoulaye Doucoure’s hand came into contact with his face.

However, the Tottenham forward appeared to recover quickly and resumed play.

Gary Neville emphasized that it is not acceptable for a player to touch an opponent’s eyes with their hand, but Jamie Carragher disagreed with this assertion.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, the pundit blasted the England captain for his behaviour and stressed that there was “nothing wrong” with the forward.

“It wasn’t in his eye,” Carragher argued.

“He stays down rolling around when there’s nothing wrong with him.

“I’ve got no problem with people diving and trying to win a penalty but the thing I don’t like is trying to get players and fellow professionals booked or sent off.”

Neville then reminded the former centre-back that he used to do similar when he was a player, using all the “dark arts” available to get opposition players dismissed.

“No I wouldn’t,” Carragher responded adamantly.

“If your son was playing football, how would you feel if he’d done it?”

He added: “Imagine being out on a Saturday night, someone did that to you and you were on the floor rolling around.”

Spurs’ top four hopes dented

Despite Harry Kane’s 22nd goal of the season, Tottenham had to settle for a draw, leaving them in fourth place with the same number of points as Manchester United and Newcastle.

Tottenham have played two more games than both teams, making it unlikely that they will qualify for the Champions League.

If they fail to do so, it would be yet another frustrating season for the club, which has once again been unable to capture a trophy.
