Noel Gallagher believes Arsenal fans will ‘throw the towel in’ if they don’t beat Man City

Noel Gallagher believes Arsenal fans will surrender the title race if they don’t beat Manchester City on Wednesday night.

The Gunners, who remain top of the Premier League table, will visit the reigning champions for the biggest match of the season.

Gallagher is confident City can win the title if they beat the Gunners

Arsenal have gone winless in their last three matches, with a 3-3 draw against Southampton seeing their title hopes take another hit.

The trip to City, which is live on talkSPORT, could very well define who wins this season’s title, and Gallagher believes anything but a victory for the Gunners will see their hopes fade away.

When asked on talkSPORT Drive if the title can be lost for Arsenal on Wednesday night, the City fan said: “I think if we win it, I would make us favourites because once we get in front we don’t tend to let it slip.

“But I think if Arsenal win it still only puts them, with our games in hand, two points in front, so if they think it can’t be won tomorrow and it can’t be lost by City, but all the pressure is on Arsenal.

“After the Southampton thing, now it’s like they have to win that game, because I think if they don’t win that game, their fans give up at the best of times, and I think they’ll throw the towel in.”

Arsenal are five points clear of City at the top of the table, but the latter have two games in hand.

Pep Guardiola’s side have previous experience of being in a rich vein of form during the run-in, and Gallagher believes it could prove key once again.

“We can always come up with a strange result at home, but never at this part of the season.

“I think we’ve been in three major title run-in chases, not chasing but against Liverpool and twice with [Manchester] United. They’ve always gone to the last day and the common denominator in them is, we’ve always done it.

City have beaten Arsenal twice already this season

“So, if experience counts for anything then we’ve got plenty of that so, they’ve only got to drawn on last season where Liverpool came to the Etihad and they needed to win, and we were neck and neck and it ended up a 2-2 draw.

“We never lost a game after that, we won every game so I think Arsenal are coming at the wrong time but, can Arsenal do it? Of course they can. Will they? I don’t know, I wouldn’t like to predict anything.”

A lot is at stake on Wednesday night, with Arsenal still searching for their first league title since 2004.

City on the other hand could be on course for the treble if they beat the Gunners, with an FA Cup final and Champions League semi-final still to play.

talkSPORT will have live and EXCLUSIVE commentary of City vs Arsenal on Wednesday night.
