‘Textbook Danny Mills’ – talkSPORT pundit pokes fun at himself after Inter man gets away with stamp on AC Milan’s Sandro Tonali

Inter Milan defender Francesco Acerbi somehow escaped any punishment for what appeared to be a blatant stamp on Sandro Tonali.
It led talkSPORT pundit and ex-Leeds right-back Danny Mills to poke fun at himself over the nasty challenge on the AC Milan midfielder.
The incident happened just before the hour mark at the San Siro with the scoreline at 0-0 in the Champions League semi-final second leg clash. Lautaro Martinez’s late strike sealed a 1-0 win on the night and 3-0 victory on aggregate to book their place in the final in Istanbul.
With Inter players waiting for a cross to come into the box, centre-back Acerbi dug his studs in on Tonali, who instantly hit the deck in pain, with the 35-year-old immediately apologising.
Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan and striker Olivier Giroud appealed to the referee over the stamp, but he waved it away, with VAR not even taking a look.
It led talkSPORT commentator Sam Matterface to express his shock that Acerbi had not been sent off.

And Mills, who represented England at the World Cup in 2002, joked that was something he used to do during his playing days – though he didn’t make it quite so obvious.
The 45-year-old joked: “That’s textbook Danny Mills that is, defending from a corner!”
He added: “He wasn’t even subtle about it.
“We used to do it walking backwards knowing you are going to step on someone’s toes – he’s just done a blatant stamp.”
Football fans were also left in disbelief that Acerbi, who is on loan from Lazio, didn’t receive a card, as one Twitter user said: “How are VAR not looking at that Acerbi stamp.”
Another posted: “How is Acerbi not even being booked for that, blatant stamp on Tonali’s foot.”
A third added: “Why wasn’t Acerbi sent off there a clear stamp on Tonali.”
Meanwhile this supporter simply stated: “Acerbi stamps the toe and VAR doesn’t review it.”
