Thomas Frank confirms David Raya is up for sale as Brentford slap £40million price tag on Manchester United target

Thomas Frank has confirmed that David Raya is up for sale this summer with Brentford demanding a fee of £40million.

The Spanish goalkeeper has been in wonderful form for the Bees this term, helping the club to a top-half finish in the Premier League.

With one fixture left, Brentford can still finish as high as sixth in the table, meaning that European qualification is very much on the cards as the season draws to a close.

But they look set to lose Raya in the summer, with the 27-year-old having just a year left on his contract in west London.

Manchester United are one of the clubs who have been heavily linked with a move for the goalkeeper as he seeks a new challenge, something that Frank says Brentford are happy to sanction, providing their terms are met.

Discussing the shot-stopper after their 3-1 win over Tottenham, he said: “We know the rumours about Raya not being here next season, but right now he is here.

“You all know the price – £40m – and absolutely it’s realistic.

“I think it is too much, in general, the money that is paid in football.

“But in the current market and at his level, he has been at least a top-four keeper in the Premier League this season.

“If you look at those players, in such a crucial position, then I am not in doubt.”
