TOP 10 Nigerian footballers in the World 2021

Nigeria’s national football team has a lot of famous footballers playing all over the world in different top leagues. In January the team will be one of the participants of the Africa Cup of Nations 2021.

Nigeria have been included in Group D along with Egypt, Sudan and Guinea-Bissau. The AFCON 2021 begins on January 9 and ends on February 6th. Super Eagles have become AFCON champions three times, most recently in 2013.

So ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations 2021, let’s take a look at top 10 Nigerian footballers in the world 2021.


Frank Onyeka

Onyeka has been representing Nigeria since 2020. He received he first call up in September of 2020. The central midfielder currently plays for Brentford as he joined them in the summer of 2021 from Midtjylland.


William Troost-Ekong

Troost-Ekong has been representing Nigeria since 2015. The Nigeria international plays for Watford as he joined them in 2020 from Udinese. On an international level, the 28-year-old has made 51 appearances and scored 2 goals.


Kelechi Ilheanacho


Ilheanacho started his senior career with Nigeria in 2015. He has made 38 appearances and scored 11 goals for Nigeria international team. The 25-year-old currently plays for Leicester City since 2017 as he joined the Foxes from Manchester City.


Alex Iwobi


Iwobi has also been representing Nigeria since 2015. He has made 48 appearances and scored 9 goals on an international level. The 25-year-old finished third in Africa Cup of Nations 2019 with Nigeria. On the club level, Iwobi plays for Everton since 2019 having joined from Arsenal.


Leon Balogun


Balogun has been representing Nigeria since 2014 and he has made 41 appearances and scored one goal. The center-back currently plays for Rangers since 2020. The 33-year-old has won Scottish Premiership with the Gers and finished third in AFCON 2019.
