Tyson Fury has claimed that Tommy Fury deliberate underperformed in his last fight so he could lure Jake Paul into facing him.
The 7-0 (4 KOs) younger brother of Tyson will settle his feud with the 4-0 (3 KOs) YouTuber-turned-boxer on December 18 in Tampa, Florida.
Back in August, they appeared on the same show together.
Jake headlined and secured an eight-round points victory over Tyron Woodley.
Earlier in the night on the undercard, Tommy laboured to a four-round points win against Anthony Taylor.
Taylor, a far smaller man, had previously been one of Jake’s sparring partners.
Tommy was expected to blow him away, but did not do so.
Tyson has now offered an explanation for this.
He told The Lowdown: “Tommy looked terrible on purpose so he could get this fight.
“That’s what clever people do.”
Speaking to talkSPORT after the press conference, Tommy’s father John Fury said it would be ‘impossible’ for Jake Paul to beat his son and he would then target a fight with Logan, the older brother of the social media sensation.
“I’ve got high hopes of him winning the light-heavyweight championship of the world,” Fury said. “How he has been sparring and the clientele he has been sparring in the gym are second-to-none.
“We’ve got Olympians at cruiserweight, we’ve got top five world-ranked heavyweights in the gym, we’ve got the best-ranked amateur light-heavyweights in the country coming here.
“We can’t lose this, it’s impossible that Jake Paul can beat this man. All it is, we are just enjoying it because we are very lucky to be in this situation before Christmas and it is just going to make all for the greatest Christmas the Fury’s have probably ever had.”
