Vincent Kompany refuses to be drawn on Burnley future again as Chelsea links grow amid fellow Tottenham interest

Vincent Kompany has yet again refused to be drawn on his Burnley future amid recent links with the Chelsea job.
The Belgian is on the Blues’ shortlist of potential next managers alongside Mauricio Pochettino and Ange Postecoglou.
Kompany led Burnley to an immediate return to the Premier League by securing promotion earlier in the month.
The Clarets have been in irresistible form this season and sit ten points clear at the top of the Championship.
Unsurprisingly, Kompany’s exploits have caught the attention of many, including Chelsea, but the 37-year-old kept his cards close to his chest once again when quizzed on the rumours.
“I said I’m not engaging on any of these conversations,” said the former centre-back via Lancs Live.
“I have too much at this moment in time in my head in terms of wanting to win football matches. That’s the only thing I care about.”
His comments come after he was recently asked about his links with the Spurs hotseat following Antonio Conte’s exit.
“I don’t waste answers on my future,” said the legendary Manchester City captain.
“I said it on day one of my job here at Burnley in anticipation that one day there might be a question like this. So, crack on, I’m focusing on Reading and the next games.”
Kompany then turned his focus to Burnley, reserving praise while insisting the club’s future appears bright.
He added: “I chose [Burnley] for the people and I feel I made the right decision. We’ve got infrastructure, we’ve got talent. It’s an enjoyable place to work.”
The Clarets boss was asked whether the Spurs links were a massive compliment to his work, but again Kompany remained shtum and reinforced his focus on the job at hand.
“I can’t say whether it is or it isn’t,” he told reporters. “It’s not at the forefront of my thoughts. I think wherever I am, in my head it’s always the biggest job in the world. The key point is always happy, never satisfied.”
