Wilfred Ndidi Should Consider Arsenal’s Approach Before It’s Too Late –

It’s obvious that Nigeria’s defensive midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is currently the best DM in England based on the number of tackles won by any defensive midfielders since last season.

So far this season, the 23-year-old has won more tackles than any other defensive midfielder in the League (According to ESPN), making him one the best DM in the world. Surprisingly, the former Genk midfielder was left out of CAF’s 2019 team of the year to the surprise of many pundits and football prediction enthusiastic.

As much as the Confederation of African Football (CAF) need to provide a genuine reason why the combative and hardworking midfielder was left out of the team, it could be traced to the fact that he’s not playing for one of the highly-rated clubs in the world ( due respect to Leicester City)

Though the Foxes currently occupy the third position on the Premier League standings, they are far from being one of the best clubs in the world and that affected his chances of being in the list of Africa’s best 11 players of the year.

Having said that, the player may have to leave the King Power stadium if he wants to win many individual awards in subsequent years because playing for top clubs in Europe will help boost his reputation as one of the best midfielders in the world.

Ndidi’s Likely Destination?

It was once claimed by reporters that Manchester United were looking at the prospect of luring the 23-year-old to Old Trafford as a result of Mourinho’s love for his defensive and ball-winning traits.

Unfortunately, the Portuguese manager was sacked by the Red Devils hierarchy, which ultimately put an end to reports linking the player with a sensational switch to the Theatre of Dreams.

At some point during last season, gooner news noted that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was said to have developed a keen interest in the hard-tackling midfielder as he is in search of a replacement for ageing but influential midfielder James Milner.

It turned out to be a mere speculation as Klopp chose not to sign new players to his first-team squad before the start of the season.

However, Arsenal are currently linked with Ndidi’s signature as report suggested that the Gunners newly signed manager Mikel Arteta is set to launch a bid for the Nigerian midfielder as part of his mission to have a very strong midfield in the second half of the season.

As it stands, Arsenal might likely be the player’s next destination as they are in desperate need of his services after Torriera’s injury.  It is crystal clear that Leicester City will do everything possible to keep one of their best players beyond the season.

Meanwhile, he’s currently out of action as a result of the injury he suffered on training ground while preparing for Carabao Cup fixtures against Aston Villa.

Since his injury, the Foxes are yet to win any game as they suffered a shock defeat to Southampton in front of their fans at the King Power Stadium. However, they returned to Premier League actions away at the Turf Moor as they face Sean Dyche’s Burnley side.
